Avant Wood Oy, a leader in technological innovation for timber modification, proudly announces the successful sale of its groundbreaking Avant Wood TMTM machine. This milestone represents a significant achievement in the company’s mission to revolutionize wood industry standards and enhance the efficiency and sustainability of wood utilisation.

Avant Wood thermo-mechanical timber modification technology (TMTM) allows the customers to determine the wood properties needed for the specific end-use at reduced costs through accelerated drying time and reduction of drying defects. Surface hardness, density, MoE, bending strength and biological durability can be enhanced. Decking, parquet, and facade cladding are only some of the many examples where Avant Wood TMTM comes into place. Without chemical treatment Avant Wood TMTM gives best results for timber in exterior applications.

Commenting on the sales contract, Avant Wood’s CEO, Klaus Goecke, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are delighted to announce the sale of our Avant Wood TMTM unit. This accomplishment is a testament to our commitment to pushing the boundaries of technological innovation in wood drying and modification and delivering solutions that empower our customers’ businesses to succeed with their projects.”

The Avant Wood TMTM unit sold is part of a greater project where wood resources that have been little used to date are to be put to sustainable and long-lasting product use. Avant Wood technology enables these types of wood to be treated and upgraded in such a way that they represent a valuable raw material for use in the project.

“We have successfully tested many different wood species for the customer in our testing centre in Varkaus / FIN to give the customer an opportunity to choose for the right raw material for his project” says Pekka Ritvanen founder and CTO of Avant Wood.

“This project is a very good example how our technology can help to make use of local wood resources in a value adding way to the benefit of all participants.” Pekka concluded.

Avant Wood’s thermo-mechanical timber modification process is a high-quality procedure powered by innovative software and sensor technology. Freshly cut green timber is dried under mechanical pressure in a steam atmosphere. The pressure can be increased to densify the wood and achieve the desired strength parameters. Depending on requirements, the temperature can be elevated in the final phase to thermally modify the wood. Throughout the process, product quality, moisture content, pressure, and steam parameters are continuously controlled and monitored to optimise the final product outcome.
