DREMA 2024 plans its return with DREMA DZIECIOM

This year’s International Trade Fair of Machines and Tools for the Wood and Furniture Industries (DREMA), to be held from September 10-13 2024, will return with another edition of the DREMA DZIECIOM project. This charity event features a live furniture production demonstration and is organised by the Association of Manufacturers of Woodworking Machines, Devices and Tools (DROMA), the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology at the University of Life Sciences in Poznań, and the MTP Group. The executive partner for this initiative is the Lazzoni Group.

The aim of the event is to present the latest furniture production technologies using automated and robotic processes, which is combined with the noble aspect of the event – the produced children’s furniture will go to the most needy children from orphanages in Poland. DREMA FOR CHILDREN is a unique charity event, promotional activities for partners and an arena of practical skills for students.

The production plan, utilising automated and robotic technology, aims to produce numerous sets of essential furniture for a child’s room, including a bed with a mattress, shelves, racks, and storage cabinets. To ease the transport of the manufactured furniture, most components and elements will be packed into a single package.

In collaboration, partners, students, and pupils working in a furniture demonstration factory have produced over 100 sets of furniture, 120 packed low shelves, 100 beds, 20 sets of packed children’s room furniture (wardrobe, desk, upholstered bed), 20 sets of packed youth room furniture (wardrobe, desk, shelves, upholstered bed), 20 sets of sensory furniture fronts for the youngest as part of the “KidsLikeUs” grant, and 60 sets of plywood panels prepared for the renovation of beds in a youth centre.

This year, the Drema Dzieciom campaign, primarily operated by students from the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology, will have an area of approximately 2,000 m² at its disposal, consistent with the DREMA fair.

The production process encompasses the processing of furniture boards, gluing of narrow surfaces, refining the surfaces of wooden elements, assembling and sorting fittings, packaging components and elements, and preparing for shipment, including warehouse logistics. Additionally, it is worth mentioning the systems for designing structures and managing and monitoring production processes.

The Drema Dzieciom campaign is not merely a promotional activity for partners. The furniture production demonstration serves as a platform for students to develop practical skills and, most importantly, supports a noble cause. The furniture produced during the fair will be donated to the Municipal Nursery in Myślenice and the Youth Educational Centre in Jastrowie.

The Live Furniture Factory will be created thanks to cooperation with the implementing partner – Lazzoni Group . The company has created an offer that meets the needs of all segments of hard furniture production: “We know how valuable entrepreneurs’ time is, which is why we have created a fully comprehensive offer that covers every stage of furniture production and combines the process into a compatible whole operated by one person […] Both smaller, individual productions and larger factories producing longer series will find we have a number of inspirations.

The solutions we propose can be treated as ready-made and comprehensive to be implemented in your factory, and individual elements can be used in parts, individually. The use of technology that will replace up to 12 employees in one production process will allow the production of approximately 2,000 elements per shift, at a lower production cost.”
