National Furniture Congress prepares its return in DREMA 2024

On September 11, 2024, the 11th edition of the National Furniture Congress will be held at the Poznań International Fair during the DREMA fair. This significant event in the furniture industry, organized annually by the Polish Chamber of Commerce of Furniture Manufacturers, serves as a platform to outline industry trends, upcoming challenges, and the most effective strategies to address them.

The Congress brings together managers from both leading furniture companies and young, dynamic companies. They share an interest in effective business development. In the previous edition, over 100 people took part in the meetings. During the 11th National Furniture Congress, as every year, important and current topics for the furniture industry will appear. The main issues to be addressed are:

The situation of the furniture and wood industry in Poland – prospects for the coming years

Analysts have been sounding the alarm about the deteriorating results of the furniture and woodworking industries for some time now. The weak economic situation of the traditional foreign sales markets (especially in Germany, where the vast majority of Polish furniture production goes) has a negative impact on exports. The latest data also indicate a slowdown in furniture consumption on the domestic market.

Prospects for supplying the wood industry with raw wood: challenges and threats

Many representatives of the furniture and wood industries believe that the Ministry of Climate and Environment’s decision on forest management could result in substantial revenue losses for companies, potentially amounting to tens of billions of PLN annually. This decision may also lead to the loss of several tens of thousands of jobs, significantly impacting the least industrialized regions of the country. The challenges and threats concerning the supply of raw materials to the wood industry are extensive.

What benefits does forest management certification bring to nature, forest managers, the timber industry and society?

The withdrawal of the State Forests from FSC certification caused panic among furniture manufacturers last year. The effect of these activities was that Polish wood in its raw state was exported en masse abroad, among others. to China. Furniture and paper producers were worried about exporting because they would not be able to sell wood products abroad without a certificate. Fortunately, the pressure from entrepreneurs turned out to be effective and the government announced the return of FSC certificates. The benefits of certification are enormous and go far beyond the sphere of ecology.

PR for the furniture and wood industry

During the panel discussion, the prospect of building the correct awareness about the importance of the wood industry will be further highlighted. As always, the National Furniture Congress will also be an excellent opportunity to build a network of contacts and exchange information and experiences in direct behind-the-scenes conversations. It is worth planning ones participation in this particular must-have industry event.
