Kuala Lumpur to host the Inaugural Global Timber Conference And Exhibition (GTC 2016)

gtcMalaysia, home to over 2,650 tree species with its well-known high quality tropical timbers has been selected as the host venue for the inaugural Global Timber Conference (GTC 2016), which will be held from 19 – 21 September 2016 at the Pullman Bangsar Kuala Lumpur.
Hosted by the Malaysian Timber Industry Board, the event themed ‘Harnessing Sustainable Global Growth’, is held to provide a conduit for stakeholders from the timber and timber-products to converge and meet face-to-face to discuss a wide spectrum of commercial, R&D developments and share success stories and frameworks from the pan-Asia region.
According to the organizer, Confexhub, this event is expected to attract over 300 trade visitors and delegates from 25 countries from United States, Europe, East-Asia, North-Asia and ASEAN representing industry practitioners, government officials and regulators in the timber and timber-products industry.
According to MTIB Director General, Dr. Jalaluddin Harun, “Timber has a complex supply chain. The variety of uses and the diversity of operations involved in producing timber products and getting them into the market provides many challenges. Therefore, it is imperative for the local industry players to gear up and place emphasis on high-value products, comply with high product quality and standard in order to stay competitive in the International market.”
“We urge all timber and timber-products industry players, policy makers, industry experts, producers and manufacturers to take this opportunity to meet and discuss on new directions and strategies so that we can together expand the timber industry for global sustainable growth”, said Dr. Jalaluddin Harun.
Datuk Dr. Abdul Aziz, the Organizing Chairman of Global Timber Conference 2016 commented, “The organizing committee is dedicated to tailor-make a high-profile annual timber event to everyone engaged in the industry. The program is carefully researched and developed with the most compact line-up of top professionals and experts.”
Aziz added, “Preparations are underway for an exhilarating event which will incorporate a high caliber conference, an expo, pre-conference study tour, and business-matching meetings between the public and private sectors”.
“It is essential for industry players to be at this conference to gather the most current strategic information and insights into future developments and market directions of the timber Industry.
